Professional Courses

The Sheffield Centre for Massage Training One Year Diploma Course offers the student a high standard of professional training. During the course there is a mixture of practical and academic work. The student interested in massage will find the course stimulating, satisfying and challenging as we journey through all myriad aspects of this exciting way of working with people.

There will be a process of self, peer and facilitator assessment throughout the course, being particularly relevant in the last term when we focus on the student as practitioner. Towards the end of the course, preparation will take place to take the Massage Training Institute practical and written exams, it is therefore essential that the student has adequate understanding of both written and spoken English however people with English as their second language are encouraged to apply.

Graduates are eligible for public liability insurance and to apply for associate membership of the Northern Massage Association.

Which Professional Training with SCMT?

There is a selection of one year professional trainings offered by SCMT. You should select the course that suits you. All the courses are part time.

These one year courses are suitable for those with some prior experience of massage. Applicants need to have completed an introductory workshop with a recognised trainer or have relevant insight into the work. Open evenings are available throughout the year and one-to-one informal meetings can be arranged as needed.

March Part Time Course  WEEKENDS ONLY
The course in March consists of 9 full weekends and 5 weekend days 10am – 6pm each day.

This course is suitable for local people and people who live further a field and are able to attend weekends only.

June Part Time Course DAYTIME ONLY
The course that commences in June is a daytime course and runs for 40 Friday afternoons 1.30pm - 5.30pm.

This course is suitable for people who prefer to do their study during the day and have a flexible worklife.

October Part Time Course  COMBINATION WEEKENDS & EVENINGS
The course in October is a combination of 3 terms each lasting 10 weeks.
& 3 weekends. The terms run on Thursday evenings 7pm~10pm. In addition there are 4 Sundays dedicated to the relevant Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology (AP&P) for massage practitioners.

This course attracts people from Yorkshire, Derbyshire and the North West who are able to attend evenings and some weekends

A First Aid Day is arranged for those students without a current first aid certificate.

There are 3 professional courses March, June & October annually.
